“Crowligraphy”

After drawing a few crows and rocks, I did some brainstorming on my next series. I decided to experiment with a new (for me) texture technique as I wanted to see how the paint reacted to the substrate. I loved how the background turned out so I added a design element by transferring the image in parts on the textured board. Loved it even more! I decided to use one of my new reference photos of a grackle as it turned out to be a great addition to my new series, “Caws and Cairns”. It all came together in the design stage when I added the swirls and curls. Once finished, it needed a title. So, I presented it to my audience on Facebook and my blog that the one who came up with the most appropriate title would be presented with a gift of a hand embellished giclee’ of the painting. The winner was Robert Goldberg with his submission of “Crowligraphy”!
