This stunning self-portrait by Alfredo Mujica won “The People’s Choice Award” at Fourth Friday’s Art Exhibition at the Historic Sanford Welcome Center. It is a 30 x 40 inch oil on canvas painting where Alfredo shows us his virtuosity of the Old MasteAn Artists' Dreamr’s techniques in a totally original composition featuring the Surrealist-Dali influences from his formative years in Madrid, Spain. He painted his own hands life-sized in the act of painting the world and himself in it. After years of full-time teaching he seems to say with this painting that even though he has returned to full-time painting, he will never give up teaching because he teaches us visually what colors he used and how he arrived at them. This we can appreciate on the bottom left hand side of the painting where he has worked out all the colors of this fascinating work.
